U.S. customers can prepare for the iPhone 17 launch using the "Get Ready" pre-order setup. This process allows you to select your iPhone model, confirm your carrier, and enter payment and shipping details in advance.

For those wanting a device on launch day, immediate pre-ordering is recommended. Supply availability is uncertain, and popular models or colors may sell out within minutes or hours.

The iPhone 17 starts at $799, while the iPhone Air begins at $999. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199. U.S. carriers are offering various discounts. Apple also provides the iPhone Upgrade Program and trade-in options to reduce costs.

Pre-orders open on September 12. The first iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro orders will be delivered to customers on Friday, September 19.

I worked in the cellular industry for 2+ decades. I cussed Apple every year we had to do the launch. Had to fly to NJ and our Command Center would open at 1 am to get ready for ummmm pre-orders at 3:01 am ET. Was SOOO stupid. Just to cater to their 12:01 am PT bull shizzz. We could not change the time as we would be missing out on all the lunatics who would set their alarms at like 2:45 am ET to wake up and order a phone. Finally out of that madness and guess what Apple does... change the pre-order times to a more normal time. Was the dummest thing ever at 3:01 am. Dates would jump out 4, 6, 8 & 10+ weeks. Customers would call complaining the dates jumped and executives would come in the room wanting to know the dates pre-orders pushed out to.. its like umm yeah ... same BS every year.. PEACE!

I haven't decided yet if I order a 17 pro with or without the physical sim card slot. I'm leaning towards getting one with the sim card slot as it offers more flexibility and the battery life will be only affected minimally. So I likely wait and make up my mind and won't order on launch day.

Have already set up my "get ready" for 17 Pro Max 256GB in Silver.

1PM tomorrow (UK time) I will be furiously rushing through checkout.

I hope I don't regret Silver. It's a safe choice but the orange is really growing on me. I swear if I walk into my local Apple Store to pick up my phone and fall in love with the orange... I'll roll my eyes and swear under my breath.

A question:

I really have misgivings about buying a phone without a physical sim card, but I think I'll buy the 17 Pro tomorrow. I'm currently using an iPhone with a physical sim, on AT&T. With regard to set up ease and transferring my contacts, am I better off asking Apple to sell me an "AT&T" phone that's already connected to my number, or will I have less hassle buying a phone that isn't associated with a carrier and dealing with switching my sim to e-sim with AT&T once I receive it?

I have seen people complaining about misadventures while transferring their settings from a physical sim phone to an esim phone while upgrading - maybe this isn't typical? - and I want to avoid hassles if I can. Thanks.

Damn, Alaska Time zone got added to prestigious macrumors time zone preorder post last year and we were so proud, now we've been removed again! What did we do to deserve this?!

Same. Upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro last year so cannot reason myself into an upgrade. Tangerine dreams though, would love the orange.
Same here. Still, My 16 Pro max is just too good with every aspect. Colour is cool but I am saving the budget to see what is coming in October.

I’m already pre-ordered. Time to say goodbye to my damaged in several places 14 pro. It was in a case, inside a case, on my bike “that day”. It survived better than the bike ;). It took a long time, thankfully I healed. Time to forget that memory as it’s the last thing tied to it.

Disappointing thing though, it didn’t call for help from crash detection. I could have used it that day.
