Yep, for the first time in years I'm not upgrading. I'm on the "new every year plan" so I'm not even sure how that's going to work if I don't renew my phone.
If it's the Apple Upgrade Plan like the one in the UK that we have, then after 20 payments, the phone's yours full stop. You could pay the other 8 months and then wait until the iPhone 18 launch in 2026 and sign up to another?
Yes, both my wife and I like the orange ones.Dammit... I do not need an orange iPhone... but I WANT one.
I moved our physical SIMs over to eSIMs and on my iPhone 16 Pro I've also brought in a second eSIM (alongside another inactive eSIM for Thailand). All of these were with no drama.A question:
I have seen people complaining about misadventures while transferring their settings from a physical sim phone to an esim phone while upgrading - maybe this isn't typical? - and I want to avoid hassles if I can. Thanks.
But now I have a question:
We usually take our iPhones into the Apple Store, swap out the physical SIMs and then restore the new iPhones from iCloud backups.
But with eSIMS, my understanding would be that we'd somehow have to follow all these steps?
- Turn on new iPhone and run initial setup as a new one, logging in with my Apple ID.
- Transfer each eSIM to the new phone using the eSIM Quick Transfer.
- Restore new iPhone from iCloud backup
- Turn off security on old iPhone
- Reset old iPhone and hand to Apple Store.
Is this correct or is there a better way?
