Yep, for the first time in years I'm not upgrading. I'm on the "new every year plan" so I'm not even sure how that's going to work if I don't renew my phone.

If it's the Apple Upgrade Plan like the one in the UK that we have, then after 20 payments, the phone's yours full stop. You could pay the other 8 months and then wait until the iPhone 18 launch in 2026 and sign up to another?

Dammit... I do not need an orange iPhone... but I WANT one.
Yes, both my wife and I like the orange ones.
A question:

I have seen people complaining about misadventures while transferring their settings from a physical sim phone to an esim phone while upgrading - maybe this isn't typical? - and I want to avoid hassles if I can. Thanks.
I moved our physical SIMs over to eSIMs and on my iPhone 16 Pro I've also brought in a second eSIM (alongside another inactive eSIM for Thailand). All of these were with no drama.

But now I have a question:

We usually take our iPhones into the Apple Store, swap out the physical SIMs and then restore the new iPhones from iCloud backups.

But with eSIMS, my understanding would be that we'd somehow have to follow all these steps?

  1. Turn on new iPhone and run initial setup as a new one, logging in with my Apple ID.
  2. Transfer each eSIM to the new phone using the eSIM Quick Transfer.
  3. Restore new iPhone from iCloud backup
  4. Turn off security on old iPhone
  5. Reset old iPhone and hand to Apple Store.
I think you'd need to do #1 before the restore, or you'll be in store forever?

Is this correct or is there a better way?

Is anyone buying through Apple for carrier trade in deal? I wonder how that works I always buy through carrier directly.

Do people get exited anymore when a new iPhone is released ?
definitely. I think it’s different now that I’m older and how much technology has matured, but Apple just does a damn good job despite their flaws and shortcomings.

new phone + new OS and this time of year is just a great feeling.

Can’t wait until Apple realigns these back to a West Coast priority rather than East.
No idea why Tim Tim randomly decided New York was magically more important than the state his business is headquartered in, but fingers crossed sanity returns.

I'm confused...isn't the west coast schedule much better? 8am at the east coast is in the middle of the work day. That means you have to order during work hours. I can do a quick orde during a meeting normally but not when I'mprsenting or when I'm in a duscussion. And I think if you want to be in the first batch to get the 17 pro you have to do this in the first 5 or 10 minutes. On the west coast it's outside work hours for most, so much more convenient to trigger the purchase. What am I missing?

Not sure what time you usually get up, but 5AM isn't my usual wake up time, at 5AM I am still usually fast 😴

POLAND buys more Apple products than many other countries from that list and you didn't even mention - like always. C'mon macdonalds
