Hi!
I'm looking for a replacement macbook to replace my stolen 2013 Pro 15" retina, and iPad Pro. I want to combine it in a single machine for now, so I was looking at 12" i7 Macbook.

Eventually it will be accompanyed with a big brother (mac pro) maybe. :apple: :)

I was testing HEVC @ our local store from: http://jell.yfish.us/

To my surprise, 50Mbps HEVC was not playable via VLC on anything besides a quadcore MacBook Pro i7. i5 13" Pro struggled a lot as well. On the other side, Quicktime dealt with Sony Camping 4k HEVC file @ 75.8 Mb/s without any hickups even on a m3 12"... VLC playback for this file was choppy as everything else...

So the question is simple for now - Which player could you reccomend me to re-test HEVC playback @ store?

Any other thoughts on Macbook 12" as a substitute for my 2 devices? ...Or it would be better to start looking @ 13" Pro? I really do not need a 15", especially where possibly I will have a Mac Pro as well.

Thanks!
I was just testing VLC 4.0.0. nightly, and that version dealt with HEVC without any hiccups even on m3.
So video issue seems to be solved.

What resolution and bit depth?

I tried this one (it was totally unplayable on the official VLC version) jellyfish-90-mbps-hd-hevc-10bit.mkv
