Hey folks! Quick question — how’s your MacBook Air M2 holding up?

I’ve had mine since March and so far it’s been running super smooth — no issues at all.
But... I randomly searched for the “sleep bug” on Reddit and kinda spooked myself 😅
Now I’m lowkey worried it might eventually happen to mine too, even though everything’s fine right now.

Is this something I should actually be concerned about, or am I just falling into "panic mode"?

I’ve had mine for almost 3 years now. It’s perfect.

Why would you randomly search for something that could go wrong when you don’t have a problem? This is almost as bad as searching Google for side effects of your prescription medicine. You’re not going to psych your computer into having a problem but still it’s unnecessary worrying on your part.

Are you looking for a reason to upgrade to the M4? That blue color has me really interested but I really can’t justify replacing a computer that works perfectly just for the color.

The blue one is really good. But i'm still inlove with space gray one

Bought mine in early 2024 as a refurb, right before the M3 MacBook Air. It's been rock solid for me ever since. The only thing mildly concerning has been the slight drop-off in battery life, but I consider that normal given the lifestyle it's led (50% as a desktop replacement, 50% as a portable work machine).

I’ve never liked the Space Gray. It looks like the plastic. Although I have a Chromebook that is very close to space gray in color and I think it looks good so maybe it’s just because I’ve always associated Macs with silver color.

Same. This device (I am using it as I type) is fantastic.
It’s my favorite laptop so far. The only complaint I have is the battery life is too long so I don’t use the MagSafe connector much.

Mine is working as great as on day one. No slowdowns or anything. Would love the multi-screen support as I have two 27” Eizo 4k monitors…but not too big of deal.

Bought mine 3 years ago with 16GB ram and a 1TB SSD.
The plan was, that I will use it for at least the next 7-10 years.
I love that machine and use it daily for work (connected to a 35" monitor).
The plan still stands

I got the 15" M2 Air in 2023 when it launched and am typing on it now. It is my personal go-to and is just about perfect ... takes me back to the Titanium PowerBook G4 days in terms of giving loads of screen real estate without feeling bulky or cumbersome (I've been using smaller screens for ages)

M2 Air in Midnight purchased November 2022. Best Mac I have ever had in decades as a Mac user. Love this machine and will be adding a MacBook Pro in the future. The Air has managed to outperform my expectations and needs and has actually delayed my Pro purchase. I made the transition from desktop to laptop only with the M2 Air leading the way and it has been tremendous. Use it for Logic with plug-ins for guitars and it has done all to suit my needs. The performance and battery life continue to amaze me, and I love the colour and design. Thank goodness for the return of MagSafe! I personally prefer no wedge as it means more battery life, and the midnight finish has held up beautifully for me personally. My inner Darth Vader is satisfied to have a dark side Mac. Hope it is always an option now.

I had a 2017 MacBook in Space Grey and lets just say I have a silver MacBook now for a reason ...
I got to work with the same model/design as mine in silver side by side and always since regretted my decision. This silver looks soo good, and the most recent black/space grey whatever is little more than a finger print and dust accumulation machine, I know someone with one and it looks filthy (although that might be up to that particular user, too).
I'd also worry about using recent dark models in direct sunlight for too long, dark screen back, top case and keyboard, ehh.

My wife's M2 MBA is doing just fine. I offered to upgrade hers to an M4 when I moved from the M1 to the M4 MBA and she declined. Frankly don't see that much (if any) between hers and my M4 for our usage even though I have 16 gigs of RAM and hers has 8.

My wife has Starlight 16/1TB M2 Air and it's been perfect since new. She doesn't baby it either - it gets tossed into her backpack and goes back and forth to work with her each day.
Would you mind asking her, or checking for yourself, if there are top case marks on the screen? Like, keyboard marks that don't rub off of from around the trackpad?

Mine does not have any marks at all on the screen and I do not baby it either. It gets tossed into my back pack whenever I bring it to work.

Did the same thing with my 2017 MBP and kind of regretted it. After some time the top case left visible marks in the screen, which wasn’t all that bad compared to the discolored screen areas that started appearing. Made scrolling horrible.
I recently bought a used, almost mint condition M1 Pro that apparently was more of a desktop than anything else and it too has slight markings on the screen. I just hope it doesn’t get worse.
