Seriously MacRumors, if you don't want people to talk about it, why are you posting about it? We all know it's the end of the world when someone disagrees with masks and/or vaccinations, so why are you even posting about it in the first place and giving people that chance to have a disagreeable thought pop into their head at all? At least when you allow comments you can find out who the dissenters are and ban them from ever posting again. Not allowing comments at all seems to be against your best interest and the best interests of this community.

Now watch this post get deleted and my account get banned for daring to post an unpopular thought. Apple and MacRumors have truly become what Apple pretended to be against all the way back in 1984.

We have stopped allowing political talk on the forums, so it makes sense to close certain “political” threads to avoid having to delete almost every post.

what counts as political can be up for debate but it’s clear that covid/vaccines/masks have become politicized, and is not something we wish to moderate. For those topics, there are other places you can discuss politics.

Unfortunately there are some stories that we can’t entirely avoid due to the strong relevance to Apple, and in those situations we do post news stories but restrict discussions, such as these examples.
