Since updating to iOS 12, Hey Siri periodically stops working on my iPhone 7 Plus until I restart my phone. I also notice that Hey Siri will not work if music is playing or even if an app that can output audio is open. Is anyone seeing something similar?

SAME THING HERE. It’s incredibly annoying.

Siri has also been EXTREMELY unreliable with simple tasks, like setting alarms for example. It’s happened several times the last 2 weeks where I’ve set alarms using Siri, that never went off, because they were never saved even though Siri said she was setting them. Both on my Apple Watch and my HomePod.

Sounds like a different thing since in my case “Hey Siri” does absolutely nothing. The phone never activates Siri at all.

No I have the same problem as you with “Hey Siri” not activating, but I also have the problem I detailed too. I even retrained my voice model and nada.

yes. exactly the same. used to work fine up to iOS 12. now hey siri does not work at times.

for me, it seems to not work most often when connected to my car, which is when i need it most.

also on an iPhone 7 and running 12.0.1

Did a little testing yesterday and found that my issue is isolated to when my iPhone 7 running 12.0.1 is plugged into my car. Hey Siri was working flawlessly at home, and even when plugged into my computer. I left Google Maps open for a long time, thinking that maybe it was timing out somehow, and saying Hey Siri after extended time, and it always worked.

Then I went out in the car, and within 5 minutes of driving, said Hey Siri. Nothing.

Haven't restarted my phone since then and just tried Hey Siri. It worked.

In a couple of weeks I'll get a software update for my in-car entertainment and get CarPlay so hopefully it will work again in the car. In the meantime, it's quite frustrating.

I drive a 2017 Mazda 3. I plug into USB for charging and use bluetooth for audio. Siri works if I press and hold the home button to activate. I also noticed that since iOS 12, the indictor for new text messages doesn't show on the car screen.

Thinking it just might be an inconsistency between iOS 12 and the version of the ICE from 2017.

On my XS, hey siri only works when the phone is locked. It never works when the phone is unlocked, even when it's dead silent. Restarting doesn't seem to fix it.

I had Hey Siri break on my phone after the iCloud issues last week, signing out and back into iCloud fixed it.

Looks like the update to 12.1 fixed my Hey Siri issues. Tried it in the car on the way to and from work today and all good. Hopefully it sticks!

It’s been working lately every time I try, so I don’t know if it’s been fixed or I’m just not running into it.
