Have just updated to iOS17 and "Hey Siri" is still required in New Zealand. No option to have my iPhone recognise just "Siri" or "Hey Siri" or both available.

Anyone else noticed this in any other non-US locations?

I am in NZ. Those who can't find the option to switch "Siri or Hey Siri", change your Language to Engish (United States) in Siri & Search.

Same with the New Autocorrect, which works in US English (and is nifty) but not in German. I guess as usual such features will arrive later (or, as with News, not at all). (Sidenote: I wish that we could simply access the American version of News, which would interest me more than a localized version anyway) ...

I have the option to just say “Siri” here in Canada so it is not just exclusive to the US. My language is set to English (Canada).

I’m also in New Zealand, set to English (New Zealand), and no option for just ‘Siri’ - still have to use ‘Hey Siri’. Disappointing…

Is it possible the “Siri” command only works with the 2nd Gen APP? The latest Macrumors article mentions it at the end.

Seems strange if true.

Yep according to the Apple website it seems to be 2nd gen Pro only.

Thanks.

I don’t understand why it’s not available on the APP1.

My older iPhone 13 & 2018 iPad Pro recognise “Siri” for eg.
I believe they changed the chips slightly for APP2 so it could be a hardware thing.

Yes, same here in Ireland. iPhone 11.
