This would be awesome, but I believe the Moto x and other Android phones that have this usually have one cpu core dedicated to listening for "okay Google"

Correct. Moto X has a special chip that uses almost zero battery to listen for voice commands. They introduced the feature two years ago. I think Apple product development takes 3 years so maybe it's still in the works for iPhone 6s. A lot of us thought Apple would do this for the iPhone 6 but then we also thought we'd get 2 gigs ram lol. Anyway I'm still happy with the new Siri functionality. Siri has really, for the first time, become useful in iOS8. Siri has come into her own.

I thought Siri was inferior to Google Now.

What do you think is most useful about Siri? I know the "what song is this" is pretty nice, also telling her a restaurant name quickly to find the phone number :)

Some Android phones will allow you to say 'Okay Google' and Google now will respond as long as the screen is on. The Moto x is unique in that screen can be either on or off. That's my understanding of it anyway.

It apparently is a bug with 8.1 now that you guys say it doesn't work and you're both on 8.0.2.
I couldn't reproduce this in 8.1 (beta 1 or 2), so either it was a bug and they fixed it, or it's a bug in the 8.1 betas so far.

This also works in 8.2--or whatever the last update was the initiated Apple Pay. I decided to try it out randomly, after I had already spoken to Siri. The only difference when doing this without being plugged up is that you have to immediately say your command:
"Hey, Siri, call my mom." But if you just say, "Hey, Siri" and then expect her to still be listening, it will tell you to say "Hey Siri" and then the command.

When I was talking to Siri, and my phone wasn't plugged in, just for fun I said hey Siri and surprisingly it worked. Just thought I would post my findings here because I haven't seen it anywhere else.
You have to have manually activated Siri for the first request and it works after that.

Yes I havd already tried it on 8.0 also .. I never thought ppl didn't know about this otherwise I would have posted it long time ago#
