What are the differences between the HFS and HFS+?
Why should i use one and not the other?
    What does the journaled mean?

ok thanx but it would be best if one could explain to me with simple words cause my English are inadequate to understand large text

what i want to do is format an external HD to 2 partitions so i make backup for my mac and my pc, and i dont know what file systems to create in the mac part!

HFS isn't even an option anymore as far as I know. Use HFS+, journaled. Probably not case-sensitive.
