saltines? But not just saltines, low sodium saltines. I don't know why i crave them so much, but once i start eating them i cannot stop until i'm halfway through the pack. Thank God they're low sodium, otherwise this might not be too healthy

Hey ~Shard~, tell me about your Doctor Who collection ;)

You asked for it! :D

I have every single episode of Doctor Who broadcast since its start in 1963. For the lost episodes, I have reconstructions using the salvaged audio. In total, I have over 170 GB of AVI files, comprising the entire series.

Addiction? I think so.

3. Rereading favorite authors - John Irving, David Foster Wallace, Chaucer, Dostoyevski, Pratchett, Adams
4. Is private - but keeps 1 particular lady very happy. ;)
5. The Combo Platter @ Old Glory w/ Collard Greens & Corn on the Cobb
6. Sitting on my balcony with my labrador, a book, & a cup of coffee whenever it rains.

That's all I got.

Sudoku puzzles (see thread).

When I don't have a Sudoku to do from the newspaper each day, or if I finished one at breakfast and have none to do in the evening, I have to find one elsewhere or I just don't feel right. That's a sign of addiction.

Thanks for reminding me Dr. Q!

I keep a Sudoku book in the bathroom (was that an overshare?), 1 in the car, & 1 in my backpack. It's like Heroin. I can't believe I left it off my addiction list. Shows how addled I am today.

That reminds me... I'm addicted to word games like crossword puzzles, Yahoo! Text Twist, word jumbles, and cryptograms. Once I start I have a hard time putting them down. I took an electronic crossword puzzle game with me when we went to India and the hubby and I would fight to play it (eventually had to settle on each of us solving half of each puzzle). Unfortunately, I think it fell out of my backpack while waiting in Heathrow on the return flight home. Sad days... :( Thank goodness for the Mega crossword puzzle book Mom gave me for Christmas!

Oh, yeah, and Free Cell... Had a winning streak of like 40 games in a row once. :D Was so obsessed with it that I finally had to uninstall it on my PC.

I used to have a heavy Jaffa Cake addiction, hence my user name. I gave them up when I realised they were a gateway biscuit to the harder stuff, like hob nobs.

I can still have the odd Jaffa Cake, but I'm not addicted... I can stop whenever I want...

After reading this just before lunch went to the Co-op for a sandwich and discovered a prominent display of 12 Packs of Orange Jaffa Cakes were buy 2 for 99p (normally 89p). So I brought my two packs.... thinking that'll last me a couple of days..... 1 hour after lunch and they are all gone! I feel like Rio! They might be 'only 1g of fat' but I've just had 24g of the crack of cakes!

what a splendid opportunity for me to embarrass myself:

addictions...

-cigarettes

-coffee
-methylphenidate
-sex
-music

sex & masturbation addiction is very likely tied to the Mehtyphenidate...@ least that was my experience in boarding school; i.e. masturbation w/o sex, & college; a great deal of both masturbation & sex.

hahaha...

my experience in boarding school was a great deal of both sex and masturbation. my experience in college was a great deal of masturbation.

on my chronology of addiction, sex and masturbation predate methylphenidate by several years. that said, i think we all know what speed does to your libido.

Ah, irony. You've got to love it. Okay, more like put up w/ it. But congratulations on discovering sex b4 drugs, that's pretty impressive.

I liked Text Twist until I thought of something even more fun: writing my own program to search a dictionary and display all words that match the Text Twist puzzle. If I'd cheat with my program rather than think for myself, that of course spoiled the challenge of the game, but writing the program and testing it was the most fun.

Me too. To be even more obsessive, I played the games by number, playing #1 until I beat it, then playing #2 until I beat it, etc. I even kept a list of the easiest and hardest game numbers and my streaks. I got past game #1000, doing them one by one in order, before trading in that addiction for the Sudoku one. If you want my list of Freecell game ratings, PM me.

Speaking of Jaffa Cake addictions, I was a bit stuck on them while I was working in Scotland (especially when they were on expiration rack at ASDA...10p a pack). All the JC comments here are coming from people not in the Washington DC area, which doesn't help me. Does anybody in the state (especially near me) know where I can get me some Jaffa Cakes here? I saw a shi-shi(sp?) brand at Safeway for $3.50, but that doesn't work for me...

Coming from anyone else, I wouldn't believe it. From you, however... ;)

How long did it take to get through 1000 games?

I didn't keep track (I'm not some kind of compulsive recordkeeper, you know!), but I can estimate it was about 2 to 3 years, since my habit was to play it each Saturday morning and do the next 5 or 10 games. Sometimes I'd get stuck on a hard game and make no progress on a given Saturday, or for a couple of weeks in a row, but I usually beat the 5 or 10 for that day.

You can buy them online,
https://www.shop.britishgoodsonline...productId=499&categoryId=8&sourceCode=froogle

I'm addicted to fonts, purchasing them, using them, etc.
I'm still expecting a letter from the owner of myfonts.com thanking me for helping him put his kids through college.

I did that, too, for a while. That was probably about 10 years ago (see how long I've been addicted) so I can't remember how far I got into them. It was a ways, and then I deleted it from my computer. Then I got a new computer and the cycle of playing began all over again. I'd spend hours playing on Friday nights (I was so lame). I had no self control. Then I uninstalled it again in pursuit of getting a life. Now I have my lappy and the hubby helps keep me in check with the game playing. Right now I have a 93% win rate with a 17 game winning streak. I hope to beat the 40 game winning streak I had in the days of yore, but it will take time since now I only play a few games every so often in a sitting. Must...keep...gaming...under....control..............
