Hi I need help with finding a name...

well, I got a new Macbook pro (the 2.4 one) and I decided I want to give it a name... I haven't decided if it's a boy or a girl, so if you could give cool names for both it can be nice...
p.s: those who think I am stupid or crazy, I don't really care 🙂

Mine's called Lucius - I have another called Cymbeline and a third called 'Imogen'

(in my case it's because I'm a Shakespeare nut - all my machines' host names are after characters from the play 'Cymbeline').
 
My old Power Mac was called Julie, because it was dual core. It amused me, in any case. 😱

Your MacBook Pro has a dual core processor of course, so that name could work for you too...
 
My BlackBook is called "Monolith" (I even have a screenshot of the apes gathered around the monolith from 2001:A Space Odyssey 😀)

A silver MBP, though. Hmmm... I'd probably name it Titanium or Infinate Silver (a play on IBM's Deep Blue) or something (of course I'm a geek so YMMV).
 
I'm so boring. They're all called 'the Mac'... or if they're at work 'the Macs' or 'this bloody Mac' if it's playing up.

Is this something boys do? Name their Macs?

Oddly enough I name lots of thing

Car: Jonny (it's a renault 5 so it is jonny 5)
Camera: Tim
Macbook: Pepe
iMac: Siegfried
Thumbdrive: Humphrey
External Drive 1: Tabitha
External Drive 2: Jonas
iPod: Dirk
iPhone : Doesn't have a name yet
 
I named my Blackbook Mary....
iPod classic is Chester
External Drive is Juan
Cell Phone is Jennifer


And if you are a man, your MBP is a girl. You dont wanna have a guy sitting on your lap now do you? 😛😉
 
All of my computers and connecting devices that need a label, have a name from something from Lord of the Rings. If you have a theme, it might make naming new items in the future fun - or OCD, whichever you prefer
 
I never have named things, though I think it's cool.

What is Apple, or MacIntosh in your native language? Think along those lines.
 
Well, my computers are named Chip and Albert, with an external drive named Horton (remember, from Dr. Seuss?).

Since your MBP is made from Aluminum, it only seems fitting that you should name it Al.

Name it Ron Burgandy
 
My Powerbook is called pleiades (computer name, bluetooth name and hostname).

I name all my electronic gadgets after astral objects. My cellphone is called andromeda (bluetooth name). The C drive of my work PeeCee is procyon, and the D drive is magellan.
 
I tend to go for biblical/Roman names.

My iPod is "Iscariot"
My Mac partition is "Absolom"
My external HD is "Tacitus"
And my Windows partition is lovingly dubbed "BILLDOZER" after Bill "Billdozer" Fontaine De la Tour Dauterive, from King of the Hill.

My wifi network was called Pleiades at one time! 😛

I bought a Dictionary of Angels.
Never had any trouble finding a name for something ever again.

No, it's something people with networks do...... hostnames, ya know? 😛

My MacBook is named Zeus. 😉

My iPod is Tantalus

aaand my phone is Broteus.

I think my External Hard Drive will be Pluoto. Yep.


(basically you can't go far wrong with Greek mythology)
