Hi,

I have been using my skype account for a very,
very long time. So long, that I don't even re-
member when I setted up; but I think around
2005. I skype with my contacts, but I do have
skype credit as well; to be able to call regular
phone numbers.

A week ago, I was doing a phone call. Suddenly,
the call, a very important call for me, was cut off.
I tried to figure out what may have happened and
asked myself why I couldn't call any number and
use the service as I was doing before. It took
some patience and some googling to figure out,
that the phone was blocked. Skype offers an
almost endless questionnaire to be filled out to
check one's identity. This questionnaire, in my
opinion, asks questions that I feel are private.
They ask me me for bank
details and contacts' information, as well as the
numbers I have called. As I refused them to give
that information, they have told me the information
I sent does not match their records and therefore
my account will still be blocked. I wonder if I have
any rights to prevent my account from staying
blocked. I can log in to my account as usual, but
it will not allow to do calls using skype credit. And
the money, the skype credit I have paid, could I get
it back?

Thank you in advance, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Hi,

Their customer service wrote this:

"Thank you for contacting Skype.

I understand that you want to retrieve your account.

I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We have checked the Service Request forms that you have provided.

Unfortunately, the information provided does not match our records. Because of this, we are unable to proceed.

Since you were unable to verify the account using the form more than once, I am sorry but we can no longer assist you with your request.

You have the option to create a new account to continue using Skype's features and services.

Best regards,

Carlo B

I just answered this:

Hello,

However, all the information you are
asking me for is in my account and
perhaps you can see it, can't you?

Why should I give it to you, if you
can see it?

Kind regards

Thank you to all of you for looking at this thread !!!

So that you can prove that you're really you. It could be anyone asking for access to your account. I do think they're asking for too much info, though. All they really need is your username and pw.

They should have a live online chat. Did you try that?

Hi,

Thank you for your message : ) !!!

One wouldn't expect that from skype, but it seems
true. They offer a live chat support option, but at
the end you are stuck with either sending an e-mail
or writing in their forum. Both options take more
than twenty four hours to be answered.

Yes, for me it is the way it feels. They ask too much
info and they also ask information that can be hard
to remember like the year one oppened the account
or other e-mail addresses one may have used in the past
in connection with the skype account, etc. The difficult
part for me, is that for some reason I can't
recall some of those details they ask for now.

Thank you again, kind regards,

Thank you for posting this! I recently started using Mavericks, and installed Skype anew. I too have Skype credit, but in order to call my family overseas. I don't expect any different "experience" when I soon need to call my brother, to whom I sent emails that weren't received. Thanks for the warning. I was wondering if Skype would work as before. (I don't remember when I first signed up either.)
