I have my Mac Pro 4,1 -> 5,1 upgraded to X5672 CPUs now.

Still trying to get the Opencore / REFInd thing working and move it to Big Sur.

So far, no luck but I’ll stick with it.

Got the Mac Pro upgraded - added an RX 570 video card, a NVMe SSD on a PCIe adapter, and using the Martin Lo version of Open Core. So it's running Big Sur just fine now.

And, lo and behold, not one but TWO 27" iMacs have shown up. Friend who runs a thrift store wanted me to "check them out".

One is a mid-2010 and the other from 2017. That latter one is really nice, he could probably sell it for $400-$500.

The 2010 model is OK, but a little worn down here and there. I don't think it's very usable with a new MacOS, but the screen is still nice. Looking on eBay, it might sell for about $100 in the condition that it's in. Main cost addition would be the shipping!

Too bad I don't have room for either of them, so I will take them back and give him my report.

If I had the room, I would definitely pick up the 2017 27" iMac just for the 5k screen.

It's pretty much a base model (i5, 8GB RAM, small fusion drive), but the display alone is worth it. :)

I have a mid-2010 iMac 27" that still keeps churning (SSD drive has helped), this thing has been a trusty workhorse since Aug 2010 when I bought it.

I was however looking on Ebay last week for perhaps a new display for this. Mine is running...BUT has 2 tiny lines running vertical on the left side. I only see it when the screen is dark. Not 100% sure if the screen is going or perhaps a bad, faulty cable?

The internal VGA display cable is a tad messed up...but connects somewhat...the plastic 'locking' tab broke a while back opening this up to clean inside. I found and ordered a new one on Amazon on Mar. 22, it was lost in transit. Amazon CS placed a replacement order on Mar. 27....and THAT was lost in transit. SMH!

Hope you can get it working again. I was surprised that 2010 27” iMac looked as good as it did. Here we are 13 years later and it’s still bright and sharp.
