Hi quality scanner recommendation?

Our Canoscan 900f isn't being recognized by our iMac (El Capitan). After some internet search, it appears it is a hit or miss problem and may be time to get a new scanner. What do people suggest for high quality scanning of photos etc.

I have the Epson Perfection V370 which is similar in functionality. Check out the Perfection range. I believe they are the best unless you go into the thiusands of dollars.

Thanks. I did d/l the latest driver and still not working. Will the Epson work with El Capitan?
 
Almost. Mine works with El Capitan but needs to be prompted with a mouse click a couple of times during the scan. The button on the unit does the scanning under Yosemite but this also isn't working yet.
 
OP:

Have you tried the VueScan app?

If not, download it and give it a try. It may "see" your scanner when other apps do not.
