Hi everybody I just bought a i Mac intel core duo and I like it a lot. This is my first Mac so please forgive me for asking a noobish question but I was wondering is it safe to keep the computer on hibernation mode 24/7 or should the computer be shutdown, completely, when it is not being used ?

That depends, do you mean the hard-to-access 'Safe Sleep' mode (the Mac equivalent of Windows' 'Hibernate',) or the easy to use 'Sleep' mode (the Mac equivalent of Windows' 'Standby')?

If you mean Sleep, then yes, it's 100% okay. Go for it. (It is, in fact, what Apple prefers. That's why the power button is so hard to reach. They expect you to use Sleep instead of Off.)
