...untill you actually envision how awkward the band design would have to be.
Agreed but I think if Montblanc can sell some crazy $$$ attachment with poor display (and hope people buy) then there are a lot of people who will buy a strap with battery.

I will not but again many people buy a add on battery case for iPhones.

BTW is anyone actually going to do that? Because I certainly won't.

Perhaps not "every" year, but every couple of years? Technology advances fast these times. I said the same thing about smartphones, but here I am, upgrading as soon as my contract is up!

iPads are still useless. You can't do anything special on them that you can't do on a laptop or on a smartphone.

The logic here. There are plenty of advantages of a tablet over a smartphone or laptop and you're smart enough to know them all.

I get your point. But why stop there? There is nothing you can do on a computer that you can't do with pencil and paper. You can even do without the phone, once more by using just pencil and paper (and a post office maybe). Therefore, computers and phones are useless too.

Oh, or maybe you meant that you just don't know what are the uses of iPads?

$350 minimum for a watch that won't include a lot of the health sensor i was expecting and wi;; most likely be added in iwatch 2?? i'm gonna pass. unless i cn get it with viggle points like i just got an ipad air 2.

Really? Think about what you just said. That comparison is ridiculous

really?? well apple has yet to make an ultra-lightweight laptop with a touch screen so that make an ipad different from a laptop. and though getting a bit bigger i like the expanded real estate of an ipad over a smartphone for a multitude of things.

Hmmm. I open my MBA clamshell and its instantly ready to be used. What's "boot up"?

Boot up is the first step in starting up your computer.
You need to press the power button and then wait for the login screen to pop up, where you'll need to choose your user account, type in your password and wait a bit more to get to your apps.

In many cases, however it's a lot more convenient to just grab your iPad!

Its amazing how many people can't wait for this watch. When it was announced it was laughed at for the poor battery life. That battery hasn't changed and now people love the watch, one that will be completely overhauled in 12 months time!

Agreed. I actually think the features are awesome, but the poor battery life is a deal breaker for me!

Somebody stop me!!!

OMG I think I'm going to!! I have NEVER bought an apple product before handling it in the physical store (though every time I fell in love with it as soon as I got my sweaty mitts on them), but I am afraid my credit card it's going to jump out of my wallet on launch day. I have been in the market for a fitness band for ages and, although this is going to be an enormously expensive activity tracker, I desire it uncontrollably.....am I wrong? Should I see a doctor?
:D

Who's buying this launch day?

I'll continue to bite my tongue because I thought iPads were useless when they first launched, but now I own one.

Haha nah, you're good! I have been in the market for a fitness band too, so I preordered the Jawbone UP3.

I only get a new watch every 5-6 years. If I'm going to spend $800 on Apple Watch it better get more than three years of software updates and battery that I can pay to get replaced. I'm not going to stay on an older iPhone with no software update because the new iPhone or iOS doesn't work with my "old" watch hardware and software.

I'm just putting my foot down and refusing to upgrade all the time. People need phones, they break phones, they get new phones subsidized. The iPad isn't subsidized and has a much longer upgrade cycle. The Apple Watch upgrade cycle will be even longer—especially since a lot of people are going to want the stainless steel, non-sport model and that's going to cost a lot for something that isn't practically a necessity like a phone. Wearables might eventually get to that point but I think it's going to be a while.

Apply salt as necessary, but if you had spying little eyes, you could see what in fact appeared to be holes for data interface pins in the unfinished metal casings shown during the Jony Ive-narrated videos in Apple's just-finished keynote.

Lightning connector (or whatever it may be) is in fact real? No idea. It could have been data files for development cases shown in the computer renderings they played for us. You'd think they would vet their materials pretty carefully though to weed out any possible mistakes, yes? Apple is usually on top of these things.

So there just might be a data port after all. Maybe. We'll see next month, when these things go on sale.

Hidden Diagnostic Port on Apple Watch Could Allow for Smart Band Accessories ...

Haha I came here just to say this! Man I hope they keep the data port too. It will make it much better with accessory bands, in my opinion. It's really, really, cool as it is now, but the battery life is still a huge turn off for me.

If there is a hidden data port, I'd worry that it would be a way to inactivate the watch if it didn't have an Apple-brand watch strap attached. Remember how they did something like that back in the iPod classic days to stop third-party charging docks from working?

Erm, you can use iPad apps on them, which you can't on a phone or laptop.

Bazinga.
