Hi all

is there away to mount a share as hidden? or so it is mounted other then the desktop?

what i am trying to do is i have an application and it needs connection to a share that is located on a server. that share has read/write on it so that the application can run but i don't want people to be able to see it and play with other peoples data.

Thanks

In windows if you put a $ at the end of a share, i.e., e$ its hidden. I wonder if you can do that with OSX.

Personally security through ignorance is a poor security model and I'd look to setting up the application to run as a specific userid, or setup the share with some specific security.

Hi Maflynn

i agree with you but there is no other way around it for this software as i explained the user needs read/write access to the share. the $ does not work in osx. any other ideas would be very good.

Thank you
