"Hide" At Login - wont work!

Mail opens when i login, but it annoys me when the window pops-up. So i changed the setting to "HIDE" in System Preferences, but Mail still pops-up when i login.

Anyone know why?

The funny part is that it worked until 10.4.

Why not remove it all together from the login screen by highlighting it and click minus symbol?
