Hide keyboard?

Is there away to make the iPad hide the keyboard much in the same way the iPhone does once you hit enter/return? I'm getting tired of hitting that keyboard icon with the down arrow.

Errr... hit the keyboard icon with the down arrow on it? Is that really too much effort?

No, it's just unlike the iPhone experience and I couldnt figure out why. It is taking a bit of getting used to.
