hide menu bar mountain lion ?

Is there anyway to hide the menu bar on the desktop in mountain lion ? Just want to see my desktop background without the menu bar showing. I heard its possible for mountain lion and previous OS versions before but can't find where I read it before .

Neither
Nocturne gives you a dark (or dim) menubar.
I think ricede was not understanding your question, which is about hiding the menubar. An app that will go full screen will usually hide the menubar, too, but then you have a full screen app, and not your desktop background.
