In iOS 5, it was possible to hide apps from your "Purchased" list by swiping and pressing the "Hide" button that appeared. This feature was removed in iOS 6, and the only way to currently hide apps is to do so through iTunes. Has this feature returned in iOS 7?

I think it was one of those features that not many people ever used. Considering the App Store requires a password to login having a hide app feature is kind of redundant / pointless

I was really never sure why that was an option in the first place. It's not like there's any apps on the app store that would need hiding, unlike the Google Play store

And, on top of it, you now get a list of recently updated apps (stretching for who knows how many days back) that seems to be always there.

It requires a password to download something, but that's really it.
