Being able to view HD content without a HD drive doesnt really do much good IMO. Are there any Blu Ray or HD DVD drives out there for the new Intel imacs that support playback?

OS X has apparently recognized the 360's external HD-DVD drive in the past

no idea about disc playability

I believe that just burns DVDs, you cant watch HD DVDs on it.

It burns and plays Bluray, not just DVD. HDDVD burners are going to be few and far between. Bluray is more PC-capable and will be more popular. Nice to see the prices are dropping, these things were $1000 less than a year ago.

you can hook it up and it will recognize it. However you will need to be in bootcamp and running xp or vista. Kind of alot of a pain to go through to watch it on your mac since, as someone mentioned above, you can get players cheaper now. $199 steady for HD-DVD players and some as low as $99 at times. Still a grand for the dual players though.
