All- I have been wearing my AW4 for sleep tracking for about a year. Occasionally, I get a high heart rate while sleeping, always for around 20-30 minutes, and always around 130 HR. My resting is around 48-52 normally, and it seems accurate while running or exercising. Anyone else seen this? Should i check my AW4 or check my heart ??? Let me know if anyone has seen anything like this. I have not tried a full reset of my AW4, but maybe that is something I should do. If I do a full reset, is there anything I should do prior to that to ensure that I get it back the way i have it now (screens, apps, etc)

I think that you should talk to your doctor about it. I've found my AW4 very accurate for it's heart rate, even right up there with a chest strap. I posted about it here.
 
I think that mine is accurate a well, during the day. Just wondering if I sleep odd and the watch is a little ‘raised’ on my wrist and it is causing these readings. They are a little too repeatable, though, to think that it is random positioning of my watch and wrist. Thanks

Although the readings are accurate 99% of the time, it has false readings too. It had me at 130 BPM when I wasn't wearing it.

OP - either way, check with a doctor. That will be best the peace of mind.

You should definitely get this checked out as you may have sleep apnea.
This is where you have a lack of oxygen to the brain and sometimes it wakes you up but it is known to spike heart rate.
There can be significant causes but it really is something you should get checked out and get advice on because it isn't good.
However often, there is a simple solution: lose weight.
If you are overweight not only does the weight press down on your chest and make if difficult to breath when you are breathing gently, but also it closes up the nasal passages and puts pressure on the neck.
So it might be something as simple as that but treat the info as an alarm and definitely get it checked out.
 
Doctor here: listen to the posters here and get your heart checked out asap.
In addition to what has been mentioned here, it could also be paroxysmal atrial fibrillation or some other condition that affects your heart rhythm.
Only after any pathology has been ruled out, it is safe to assume that your apple watch ist maltracking your heart rate...

OP, please let us know how this works out for you. Did the Watch flag a real issue? Was it a false-positive? We'd all love to know, and we all wish you good luck and good health.
 
So, I have this too. It comes and goes, I have found that the delayed breakdown of alcohol can lead to it in the night after about 5-6 hours delay after have a few drinks.. that said. My issue is, I no LONGER get the high heart rate alerts? A few years back when one was sedentary and had a high heart rate (the threshold can be set in the watch app) I would get an alert, or at least I would get that alert in the AM after waking. Now, I don’t get any alerts for high heart rate even when the health app shows that indeed there was a HHR event n the night. Any thoughts on how to get it working again?
