High Mail cpu usage???

I purchased a 2011 11" macbook air (1200$ model) and i set up a gmail account in mail and when looking at the cpu usage in system monitor it goes up to almost 50% on the application mail, anybody else having this problem?

It may be doing some sort of setup thing with it, so I'd let it go and see if it will go down after a few minutes.
