Your apple store should have the high-Rez in stock but just call ahead just to make sure

I hope i can visit the store in the next couple of weeks, and than i can take a good look again at the standard screen and will take the decision. Thanks again :)

You don't need to.
Just get to a 16:10 screen.
Make screenshots in 1440x900 and 1680x1050 or the 16:9 equivalent. Resize them to be as big as a 15" screen and you will see how well you can read it.
Going to the store is really more important for deciding matte vs. glossy but for res alone a very uncreative solution and impractical if there is no store close to you.

I don't think that this is a very good test.

What is the resolution of the screen you are doing the test on?

I've seen people run LCD screens at a lower resolution than the native resolution of the screen, and it looks awful to me. Like 1024x768 on a 1280x1024 screen. Some pixels are doubled, many are not. Just not smooth.

I like as much resolution as I can get. If my 15" had been available with 1920x1200, I would have gone with it :) But on my previous computer, I went 4 years with 1400x1050 on a 12" screen. This resolution was apparently dropped as an option shortly after I bought it. Probably too many returns from people thinking it had too small of icons and text.

If your eyesight isn't good enough for the hi res, go with the standard. Still a lot better than the old standard of 1024x768.
