I was pulling darts out of my board once and turned around to see my girlfriend throwing one. It stuck in my shoulder, I pulled it out, drank some more beer, and we carrried on. Hurt a little the next day, but that was about it.

I imagine this hurts a little more than a dart, though.
hehe... yeah, it probably does.

Although I also had an interesting dart experience. I was getting up from the computer when something distracted a friend of mine who was throwing darts, and his dart went... well... sideways. Went through my gum and knocked out a tooth. My mom freaked out. It was funny...

Javelin accidents don't happen much because they've banned almost everywhere... Throwing is usually limited to shot and discus, and I'm sure this school system will reconsider soon.

It's easy for a javelin to go off course, but this guy must not have been paying attention, especially the 7th grader... They have cages around throwers in case they let go too early, so if you get hit, it was an outrageously bad throw or you just don't like to pay attention to your surroundings..

Yes, I'm joking. I had just finished reading one of his posts when I picked up on this one, so it was fresh in my mind. And appropriate.

pivo- is that luke in your tar? what's it from?

thanks doc q for the heads up

Something similar happened at the school district neighboring mine a few years ago....A Southern Columbia student got a javelin through the neck during a meet at his high school. He ended up being fine (minus a large scar), as well as a minor celebrity on talk shows.
