So i read this in another forum i wonder if you guys no anything about this or is it complete BS?

"I am the resident Mac Guru on these forums - you can drop me a PM if you want, but I'd honestly advise against buying a mac right now til they clean up their manufacturing. Currently the dye used in plastics for the current macbook & macbook range were found to contain high traces of a lead based dye substance (china have been at it again). Apple have so far kept tight lipped over the whole ordeal and are continuing to sell their tainted stock.

STEER CLEAR AT ALL COSTS."

I don't know about the MBP (seems to contradict what Apple puts out on their website) but here are some confirmed toys we make in America (manufactured in the USA) that have lead, bromine, arsenic, etc.

Now I have to throw away all my Hannah Montana gear...:(

Up until a few years ago, all the solder in circuit boards was about 37-40% lead. And we are all still here. CRT monitors and TVs contained (and maybe still contain, if they are still being manufactured) up to a few pounds of lead, cadmium, and other toxic heavy metals. The main reason for eliminating heavy metals was mainly that disposal was difficult/dangerous/expensive, not that they posed much threat to the user. you can't just dump a CRT in a landfill or it will contaminate the ground water, but the reactions that turn pure metals found in electronics into organic compounds, which do most of the damage in the environment, don't happen immediately on contact (with the exception of mercury since it is a liquid and more easily absorbed by the body).

Lead in toys is a real problem, but I don't think you need to worry too much about lead in computers unless you like to lick yours. If you are really paranoid, wash your hands after handling it and you will be fine.

Why do people keep complaining about China? It's not like everyone in US make quality things either. Go look at the auto industry.

How you figure. 100% American made stuff is very high quality. Cars are made in different countries. or parts from other countries are shipped in and assembled in us. Try again

I don't get what you're trying to say. The state of the industry is not indicative of the quality of cars produced. What's wrong with the quality of American-made cars?

(This is also ignoring that most US automakers are using foreign parts, as well as assembly plants in Mexico)

Exactly.

People are mistaking this for a health issue when it's a disposal issue.

Completely fake rumor.

Anyway, about the eating/licking your lovely Mac, IF there is lead in the paint or whatever, you might touch it, get in the car and go eat a Big Mac (BTW, I've never eaten one in my life :p) and DON'T WASH YOUR HANDS in between, you will ingest a few molecules of the supposed lead. :D

I'm going to touch a Mac Pro, not wash my hands, and eat a Big Mac. :D

Two possible things you can do or not do:

1) do not lick your mac

2) Eat your mac and sue apple for not posting a "do not eat me" sticker on the top, bottom, keyboard bezel, and screen bezel.

The quality of cars in America is MUCH MUCH better than anything made in China. China makes death traps. My Ford Escape/F-150 holds up much better than a crappy hybrid such as the Prius!

Where'd Sean go? I would assume there would be a simple way to test this? But then again, I also assumed there was a simple way to prove that our president is obviously in American citizen...

Oh for crying out loud. Don't eat the dumb thing, okay? Maybe I should go to a forum and claim to be the resident "DELL Guy" and say DELL has some models with lead in the plastic dye or similar and try to scare away ppl that way.

Sounds like a simple stock market scare tactic to me.
