Excellent news, but how do you call applecare to get the applecare on your machine? :D

I dont think you need to call them, your recipt proves as proof that the item was bought from the HE NUS store and they are therefore guarenteed to cover you for 36 months in case of a Hardware fault.

Amazing! Thanks for that Shadow. Students would be crazy to buy a computer from any other manufacturer now in the UK - The deals are just amazing.

Its true I got my MacBook base model with 80gb HD for £673 with a 3 year warranty, find another notebook that is that damn good value for £££

Just called Apple up and the sales Rep confirmed that the products bought via the NUS store are Guarenteed for 36months for Hardware fault but you do not have the phone access like normal applecare....

Pretty sweet deal! FREE APPLECARE :D

yeah, its good :D but like i said i think its worth getting the full applecare not for the phone support but just so when you come to sell the machine you can sell it with full applecare. i don't think you can pass on the standard 36 months warranty.

Because the standard warranty isn't transferable and with AppleCare it is transferable?

I just wonna know because I'm thinking of buying AppleCare for that particular reason.

Is this still true:

10.1.1 All Apple-branded desktop and portable computer products shall be subject to a 36 calendar month warranty period commencing from the date of delivery.

So its like apple care minus the phone support after 90 days?

Thanks,

UK guys,

I'm a student, year 11 GCSE, I don't qualify for HE discount.

But...*cough*...you know, do they check if you're HE, I know ya put ya uni in or college...but do they ring up and check or whatever?

Been saving for a macbook for when I do go on for HE, and can't afford without the marvelous discounts they give you.

You have to be 18 aswell which maybe a problem.

Wait until you get into Sixth Form (Or college – whatever! Just Further/Higher Education) in September as you will then qualify for a NUS Associate card and its unlikely you will be flagged then as technically you are eligible because you attend a qualifying institution (Apart from the whole under 18 thing…)

Hmm ok cheers, maybe I could just convince them now... ;)...after all, I no longer do any year 11 work and when I go back I'm a 6th former.

I think that it maybe harder to transfer this HE warranty. It can be done with the normal discounted student APP but with this warranty or the uplift i am not so sure how easy it would be to do.
Just wondering to those of you who bought the contract uplift did you receive the standard normal APP in the post?
