No, the reason milwaukee is so "secret" is because there's really nothing special about it. Take away pro sports, and you have another omaha/cleveland/oklahoma city - Yeah, they're there, but does anybody really want to visit them (don't mean to offend any folks who live there, but on the same note would you want to visit milwaukee?)?

Have to diagree, I'd like to visit milwaukee. I think milwaukee and cleveland are on a different level than omaha or OK city.

Hee. I've only driven 11K miles in the 3 years I've had my car. :D

And what part of the Bay Area are you referring to as having adequate public transportation? I don't think the South Bay has a good network at all. I guess it's to sprawled out in suburbia and buses come maybe once every 45 minutes to the very few stops that are around, so I agree w/:

Yes, you do have me beat. My car is just about six years old and I recently passed 30,000 miles.

I'm a ten-minute walk from Daly City BART. There's decent access to Muni buses from there, and I've got SamTrans buses within a couple of blocks of my house.

I don't have much experience with VTA, but the South Bay on the whole is much more spread out than SF, so it's no wonder it's less efficient.

Muni Metro has its problems with the above ground sections being very slow at times...I've suffered through many a delay on the N at the Duboce/Church portal as we wait to get fed into the subway. It's a heck of a lot cheaper to build above ground than it is to build a subway (especially when the ground is sand or the water table is only a couple of feet below the surface.

What about the art museum?

It's famous and stuff. There are other things to do in Milwaukee than drink beer and goto games like Summerfest.

May I ask why you want to visit milwaukee? I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but when I lived there I thought it was a pretty boring, bland city. Sure, you can see the art museum and the lakefront, but that would eat up about an afternoon. I'm honestly not sure what else there would be to do in the city.

Well lets see...

Summerfest
State Fair
The Domes
The Public Museum
Touring the Miller Brewery
Baseball Game

I could go on but why bother. Milwaukee is no Chicago, we got 1/4 of the population and our skyline cant beat much but within the city anyone can have a good time.

I think many people say that about cities they live in, because they've already seen and done anything. I think the same about St. Louis, yet I know we still get a decent amount of tourism. Hell, after living there for 5 years, my sister was beginning to get sick of New York City. And we know there's nothing bland and boring about NYC

Absolutely. L.A. would be a 'real city' without eight lane highways and better public transportation. The Cross Bronx during rush hour in July when your air conditioner is broken?. 'Nuff said. I'll take Metro North and the subway any day.

Public transportation is essential in Manhattan but in the Bronx it's terrible. I go to school about 4 miles away, and it takes 10 minutes in the car. It takes 45 on the bus but I've discovered a new bus line that gets me there in 25. That is still valuable sleeping time! :p

Sleep on the bus maybe??

I actually slept on the bus in the Bronx with my backpack and my white buds on. Still alive. :)

I don't sleep on the bus because that's when I get my homework done! ;)

Yes, until they moved to Burbank, which killed the show.

I'm pretty sure that it was dead before that. Still, Milwaukee, bowling, pizza, and beer. It doesn't get any better than that.

Doesn't that look fun?

It looks like Princeton, NJ and Bucks County, PA in 1995. We had some weird thunderstorms that left 6 inches of mud in hundreds of houses in the area. They blocked off roads, locked people in the malls and cars were being swept off the road.

I think that the storm dropped almost 16 inches over two days. There are some much worse pictures than that, entire town sqaures were wiped out.
