apple does benefit from microsoft charging so much for their products. it allows apple to have high prices. but there is not the threat of linux taking marketshare from apple. it has no major centralized force to make it a desktop contender. with so many distros, the average user from windows woldnt be able to figure it out. linux survives because of the distros, but won't grow because of them.
