I searched the forums but can't seem to find a definitive answer in regards to having a loose hinge on the i7. I picked mine up yesterday and it seems a little too lose for my liking. It stays in place when it is not touched, but if you push with one finger on the bottom it will switch quite easily.

Is this how they make the hinges now or is mine too loose and should be exhanged? I don't seem to have any problems with dead pixels/yellow screen/noise and would hate to exchange it.

On a side note this machine was made in USA  good thing I guess

It seems like the hinge on the inside is not tight enough. its the matter of just tightening it up with a hex wrench. Take it into a local apple store or reseller and let them look at it. I'm pretty sure you will have no issues.

I noticed that with my new imac too. I study alot at my desk because Im still a student and when I use my eraser it shakes the desk just enough to cause my screen to slide down to the bottom of the hinge. Annoying, but this thing is perfect otherwise so Im not going to return it. If you take yours in, let us know if its an easy fix. I'd hate for them to have to pull the whole thing apart to tighten it up.

Just took it to the apple store to be fixed and they decided to swap it out. Brought out the first one and it displayed an even worse hinge than mine. I too them to try another one and they did and this one was significantly better. The hinge gives just enough resistance to keep it from moving with a slight touch.

Still haven't tested it for the other issues but so far just having a stable computer makes me happy.

Really, did they make it sound like its difficult to tighten up the hinge? If thats the case, I might have to consider swapping this one out too.

If you just picked it up yesterday, then you should just take it back to the store that you purchased it from. You only have 12 days left to do so.

To be honest, I don't think its an easy fix and the store manager was aware that the 27" i7 is prone to problems. It did not take much to convince them to swap it out, in fact they offered the swap once they pulled it out of the box and saw how loose the hinge was.
