Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 makes loud noise.

Hi all,

I just bought an Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 2TB with OWC Mercury Elite case.Everything is fine ,but after I tried to erase zero data, it starts to make very loud grinding noise. Surprisingly ,it's the same noise iMac makes with WD hard drive.So is it normal for harddrive makes such a noise.Should I ask for replacement ?.

A couple of years ago I had a Hitachi that started making a loud metallic scraping noise (bearings, I guess) - it froze completely less than 24 hr later. I wouldn't accept such a noise on a new drive!
