Hmm...I just "installed" an app store app on a 1st gen iPhone.

I downloaded the new Remote app from iTunes 7.7. It comes as a .ipa file. I Googled. I renamed the file from .ipa to .zip. Opened the file. Opened the folder called Payload. Voila, there was the Remote app, with the same icon as apps Installer uses.

I SSH'd it to my phone. The icon showed up on the home screen upon respring.

    Tapped it, it immediately crashed.

    Hey I tried.

Wow. I'm so... sorry about your loss. I just, don't know much to say. He was a good friend. He's probably smiling down on you right this moment.

There's a thing called Restore, you know. It's the iPhone equivalent to a defibrillator.

    Huh?

The app crashed, not the phone.
