Hold Assist Detection on iPhone

I have had this feature work once, but twice now when I’ve been placed on hold and the music is playing for a significant amount of time no hold assist is triggered. I know this can be manually triggered if wanted but what’s been the experience of others with this feature?

Thanks, it did work once. And I agree, I think this is a wonderful feature but looks like I may have to get used to triggering it manually. Oh, it can also function when using the phone app on the ipad.
