Do to the absorbent cost of the iPhone Xs 512GB are you going to hold out for a complete overhaul design like the newly released iPad Pro models? Also hoping with time a embedded FaceID under glass and a 100% screen to body ratio and USB-C.

Absorbent? I guess these phones do soak up a lot of cash haha

But seriously, I love my iPhone X, and I can see myself keeping it until a new design is released. Something like the new iPad pro would be cool. It reminds me of the iPhone 4, which I still think is the most beautiful iPhone.

You are going to keep waiting for a new phone forever then lol. New models will keep coming, holding out for like a year or two as a concept is something I dont understand. I mean you can hold out for a couple of months or so till the new one is releasing but for a year or two? lol no.

Complete overhaul? What are you expecting? Apple just released the iPhone X last year, and it’s not expected that the iPhone should be completely ‘overhauled’ on a year-to-year basis, that’s not how smart phones evolve. Apple is very conservative with the changes what they make with the iPhone and they ration their features over the years, next year I suspect the iPhone will still support lightning, and I don’t ever foresee face ID being under the glass, unless Apple can minimize all the hardware and sensors that included currently.

I stopped waiting for Apple to make the camera flush with the casing when Apple launched the iPhone 7/7+.

Since then the camera bump has only gotten bigger and uglier. Apple seems to consider it to be a design element.

So, no, I'm not holding out. Short of Jony Ive being fired or getting a complete personality change nothing about the design of the iPhone is going to change very much.

I’m thinking this design/form factor will be around for a few years with tweaks as technology permits. iOS13 possibly could be the biggest change we’ll see next year if rumors are accurate about a complete overhaul

I don’t even understand the camera bump for the iPhone X. The note 9 is thinner, has an S pen, a bigger battery, a headphone jack, and somehow has no camera bump. Apples design choices can be so strange.

Yeah. I keep getting told that the camera bump can't be flush because the size and thinness of the phone doesn't allow for it. I do understand that camera components can only be so small, but I don't need/want a phone with the thinness of a credit card either.

And so many other manufacturers make phones of equivalent thickness with a flush camera. Which makes the bump a design choice that Apple is deliberately making.

I don't like it.

im sure there is a reason there is bump for the camera they arent doing it "aesthetic" reasons. Could be the turned angle is because of the true depth sensors and other components make it so it has to be turned and other components making it thicker then they could of done a flush mount camera with. I dont mind the camera bump really I never see it.
I personally would love a Iphone 4/5 style phone shape as I miss the straight edges especially having a phone without a case the curved edges are too slippery. Flush glass front and back would make it less prone to breaking too compared to the designs since the 6.
Also, imo the X design is still just an evolved iPhone 6. The shape is the exact same. Glass the same shape. Just because it lost the home button and turned its camera doesnt make it a new design because it's not. This is the 4th year of the design in my eyes. Id like a redesign next year or 2020. It would make their lineups more consistent with iPad and iPhone also. Similar squared off shape as the MacBook Pros too.
The only reason the 6's sold so well was the larger screens but I believe if you polled people about what phone design they liked the best it would be the 4's and 5's. Bring it back :D

The X will carry anyone for the next 2-3 years easily. The Xs had very little for me to consider upgrading. At this point, the incremental upgrade year is boring. You don't understand why many folks are not upgrading as often?

Agreed. I used to upgrade every year from 1st gen until about the 6, then I stopped and went every other year and even now that seems unneeded for my needs. I'll see what Apple has in store for 2019 iPhone's but I don't have high confidence in getting it unless they bring Touch ID Back under the screen.

To the OP, hold out? Absolutely not. Just get on the IUP and if what you like happens, walk out with a new phone (and a few more payments lol). If it doesn’t happen you have lost nothing.

But I believe most of us use a case so it doesn’t really matter at all what the phone looks like, it ends up looking like the case. That said, I am a fan of the new iPad styling, it reminds me of the iPhone 4/4s which I really liked (but rarely saw as it was in a case...)

That's literally not what I was talking about lol.

I love the design of the iPhone X/Xs. By contrast I think the new iPad design, aside from the all screen feature, is pretty dull. The render above looks similarly boring.

I wouldn't mind a smaller notch of course, but I think we are a few years out on a true full screen design -- on an iPhone at least.

Other than that, I'm a big fan of the shiny, stainless steel which makes a very expensive device feel premium.

Don't hold out, notch will be here for years to come and the camera bump is not going anywhere for some time neither. I would have to say I hate the camera bump more than the notch which doesn't bother me too much. If they get rid of that camera bump and get rid of the notch, it will be my dream phone which I will buy immediately

Just do a search on eBay for last years iPhone X. I was able to find one with AppleCare for another year and a half and the cost savings were about $550 over buying new.

It works great, so if you do a bit of research you can find a nice one. Always a risk buying used though.
