25 days vacation,
whatever the UK standard for public holidays is (9 days?)

Contracted to work a minimum of 35 hours, normally nearer 45. No overtime.

I've worked here for 6 years (vacation allowance went up a couple of days at 5 years).

We get more vacation days than our US counterparts...

My poor wife...

1 weeks vacation a year.
7 holidays a year.
NO SICK DAYS.

And she's been there for 6+ years.

But she does get a company car and they pay for her gas.

How long have you worked for these folks?...
Been with them since 2000. Started on 21days which upped to 25days after 3years. My immediate boss just retired and the new guy who replaced him wouldn't take the job with less than the 28days he had in his last post so the CEO decided he'd keep everybody equal and gave 28days across the company.

It looks like I get a pretty good deal compared to the US members in particular. It's odd to see people list sick days? If I'm sick I take the day off, no penalty. If I'm sick for more than two days, or I've been taking the piss with lots of single sick days, I'll need a medical cert. from my GP as proof.

I get a company car/gas and my cellphone and calls are all expensed too.

I still hate the job though.

Well, mine shouldn't really count because I work at CNRS in France and it's ridiculous.

Officially 40 hours/week, although usually closer to 45-50. Summer time may vary:)

In addition to the 12-14 official French holidays, we get 45 days of paid vacation. I don't believe sick leave counts against this, either.

Oooh la la!!

Unfortunately my year in France is rapidly coming to a close, and I'll be returning to the US (aka land of no vacation). Actually, my wife is an engineer and got about 3 weeks of vacation plus the regular federal holidays, as well as the week between christmas and new years. Not terrible, but it can't hold a candle to CNRS :)

As we like to say, 3x the vacation, 1/3 the salary.

I've only been working with my company a few months (junior engineer) and I get the following:

Work 42.5hr week, get 1 week paid vacation per year, 9 paid stat holidays per year, unlimited sick time, and the extra 2.5 hours I work per week gets accumulated so that there are 15 extra days that I can take off per year (usually arranged to make 4 day weekends with a stat holiday or taken over xmas).

I think it's a pretty sweet deal.
