Expensive tradition! I loathe the Odeon in Leicester Square; it's the most uncomfortable, dirty overpriced cinema in the country. On celebrity premiere nights, they must bring in cushions for the seats or they show the movie while the celebs stay in the bar. I do like when they decorate the rest of Leicester Square to make it themed though.

I'm hoping the Apollo (round the corner from Piccadilly Circus) does the HP previews since it's my favourite London cinema

Are you going to try to see HP & the Goblet of Fire at the IMAX too while you're in London. It supposedly comes out the same day. I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory there which was v cool on the enormous screen

I hear you. The main reason I went to the Odeon Leicester Square was because Warner Bros. had decorated the square to look like Hogwarts and its grounds for the premiere; they conveniently left it up through opening day :)

I HAVE to see it there once, just to maintain the tradition. But perhaps first I'll see it at the IMAX. That's on the South Bank near Westminster Bridge, right? Or am I on crack?

Tell me if this is normal. I have read all the books like 7 times. And when I was younger I looked forward to listening to the audiobooks at night.

I certainly hope it's normal: I've read the series eight times through, except the sixth book, which I've only read thrice. When Steve Jobs announced the audiobooks on iTunes and the special edition iPod, I wet myself and found religion.

EDIT: Oh gosh, I'm having fun. Screenshot of Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort!

Does Ralph Fiennes always play super evil characters? I still think of him as Amon Goeth.

Blurgh, argh, EH, and MEH. Completely inconsequential. Scream like a pre-pubescent girl noir. I'd rather live in France for an entire year than read another Potter. Londonites and other British, this should especially offend you. By the way, BLEGH and MEH.

They chose the wrong person to play Krum! Krum was supposed to be a big, bulky guy (Even though seekers are small by nature). I think his friend fits the role better, physically.

Or maybe I just think the bigger guy is increadibly good looking and would like him to play the bigger role. :p

edit - I think they did a very good job with Cho, though:

Have I missed something? I didn't think the Harry Potter films were that good and there doesn't seem to be much special about the trailer..

It's the story that's good :).

The audio books are awesome! But you are not normal...

This trailer looks MUCH better than the first...starting to get a little excited!

Nope... it's reasonably near Westminster - just outside Waterloo - one bridge over!

Word. Except for Tate Modern and the Eurostar from Paris, I've not spent any time on the South Bank, a mistake to be rectified during this trip.

And not to dis Mr. Cedric Diggory, but the Award of Supreme Hotness goes to Viktor Krum. Yowza. (I'm glad he's over 18 years. I'd feel a bit dirty otherwise)

Thank you. I require little in the way of worship except that you not vote for politicians who think your lifestyle is sinful and wrong.

So... maybe I need to feel dirty for another two and a half years about Emma (Hermione):

Cedric is about to be 20. :p

I'd do things....nevermind.

Huzzah! :D :D :D :D :D

Just purchased my plane ticket to London. $587 direct from BA. It sucks a wee bit as last time I went I paid only $270, but considering most fares are around $800 right now, I'm feeling pretty swift about it. Also purchased Eurostar tickets to and from Paris, total of $105. I'm so freaking excited.

Are Durmstrang and Beauxbatons single-sex Wizarding schools?

They weren't in the book.
When the Beauxbatons arrived in their huge carriage... with Madame Maxime there were around a dozen boys and girls.

When the Durmstrang ship rose out of the water... with Prof Karkaroff... it is less clear...as the only student mentioned was Viktor Krum the famous Quidditch player.

Not that I just happen to know this... I have started re-reading the book before I see this one... to see the differences, and how much they deviate from the book.

(ref. pages 215 & 218 respectively in the version I have... end of Ch 15).
