Holy moly! When did iPhones get so expensive in Canada?

The phone prices are ridiculous! $1300 for a 6S+ 64GB taxed in(CAD). I'm still using my 5 and I was gonna upgrade to the 6S+ since my phone was dying(screen falling out/loose etc) but it died on me last month and wouldn't turn on and the nice Apple Genius gave me a "brand new" replacement 5. So I really have no need to upgrade til the 7 lol

FWIW, I think the iPhone is expensive in the US - Now that subsidy pricing is all but dead, I need to either pay thirty something dollars a month for two years or shell out nearly 800 dollars. Throw in apple care and taxes and the price is closer to a 1,000 then it is to 800 bucks.
