Anyone else find the Home App is highly inaccurate regarding the status of devices, specifically in my case my Hue smart lights? I have to force shut the app and go back in for it to be accurate (for as long as that lasts). This has occurred all though iOS 14.

Me 3 with several iDevices (wall switches, plugs). I have not had any issues with my Hue products.

Thanks for confirming.

It’s really poor. A bit like all Apple software these days.

I should add that it also tile’s affects the status of HomePod and Apple TV.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that if I control, for example play or pause, audio on any of my HomePods in the Home app it takes up to 30 seconds for the action to happen and the tile to update. It amazes me how crap their software has become.

I’ve noticed this a little bit recently. Killing the app and restarting it seems to get things back to normal for me. I’ve seen it with WeMo plugs and Lutron Caseta switches.

I personally do NOT have these symptoms you're describing......my home app seems to update quickly, as in a few seconds....I just tested it by asking Siri to play a song on a HomePod and it did instantly, and then I was looking at the home app on my iphone to see how long it took to show it being used....and was within 5 seconds to update on the home app.

I have to say though, this is the first time I have tried to time how long it took to show a change in the home app....as I don't actually look at the home app as much as I used to.....if Siri does as I have asked then there is no need to be looking at the home app for me.

I never really have either but since I started using the adaptive light option, I've been paying more attention to things in the Home App. While I have been keeping one evil eye on Adaptive lighting I've noticed what StumpyBloke mentioned.
I went around and reset 8 of my 25 iDevices this morning and they seem to be working just fine with no delays etc.

I am going to be paying more attention for the next few days just in case though.

The delay between tapping the HomePod tile in the home app to resume playing ranges from 1 to 10 seconds (to start or stop playing) and from 3 to more than a minute, if at all, for the tile to update.

I have never used the home app to control music on any of my 4 HomePods....I always use Siri to start playing music via voice command and then perhaps use the control centre of an iPhone to change tracks......I have never used the home app to do anything with the HomePods except update the firmware of them or to adjust a setting.

You are probably wise keeping away from it. I do tend to need it though because I have dozens and dozens of bits and pieces in HomeKit and having everything under one umbrella is very useful.

My entire house has a Philips hue bulb of various types...E27, bayonet, candle screw in, GU10 and over a dozen light strips along with about 6 motion sensors a stack of the Philips 4 button remote switches for almost every room too and everything works perfectly with zero delay every time no matter what method is used to control them...home app, Philips hue app or via Siri.

I am not sure what might be causing your delay issues

There are no delays in controlling my hue lights, door sensors etc. Rather, I’m referring to the delay in the home app to actually reflect which lights are on. For example I turn off the office lights but the hone app still shows them as on unless I leave it for ages or force close it and re-open it. (This is all in the status section at the top btw).

Hmmmm defo not having that problem here....could it be how you have your WiFi/house network set up that is causing a delay?

I’ve noticed this since iOS 12. It’s very random though and appears to be mostly the Apple devices (AppleTV, HomePod) but sometimes others as well.

It's very intermittent for me. Mostly things are updated reasonably quickly. But occasionally a tile will take a long time or not update at all. Having no real issues with the functionality lately, just the "panel".

No I don’t think it’s Wi-Fi. In fact it isn’t Wi-Fi because if I crash out of the app and go back in it updates instantly. As others have said it’s temperamental and sporadic. Actually that just about sums up Apple software these days

Yep, that’s it.

Your Security System shows you are away from home and the Motion Sensor in the Living Room shows Motion. :)
Hope you didn't get burglarized while we are discussing HomeKit shortfalls...........

Haaa. No that’s the ring doorbell via HOOBS. I never change it because I want it to always alert me

Seems likely an app issue. I just had it happen again and killing the app immediately solved it and now it behaves exactly as it should. Just another iOS 14 problem I guess.

Before I updated to 14 my homekit worked flawlessly. Now it is a different story. Often times when I open my home app on my iphone all of my devices say "updating" then after 5-10 seconds they all say "no response" in red. If I click on each individual device it correctly displays the status of the device without changing its status. click it again and it will either turn the device off or on. Siri almost always fails to execute voice commands these days for me. Seems like the force quit isn't necessary as long as you are willing to wait a few seconds (which is probably how long it takes to force quit and then relaunch the app.

Seconds would be okay, however as I’ve already said, it can take minutes if at all. Therefore the only option I have is to crash out of the app and go back in.

After updating to 14.3 I've had no issues, the Home App seems to be keeping up and displaying everything correctly
