The Home app on Catalina doesn't see HomePod Mini. I hope there will be an update for that, even if it's a "feature", because it'll be awhile before I'm ready to tackle Big Sur. Not a big deal mostly, I can either talk to it or use the Home app on an updated iPhone or iPad. But it is a bit silly, IMO.

macOS apps like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil will be able to play audio to paired HomePod Minis when they're joined in the Home app on the Mac, so I'm eagerly waiting for that update too!

Oddly enough, although the Home app on Catalina doesn't show the HomePod Minis, both the Music app and the list of system output devices show them. (and maybe other apps that are AirPlay aware, I haven't tried) I did have to try a few times to switch output to them before it worked. Presumably either on Big Sur or with updates to either macOS or to the HomePod Minis, that will soon enough work more smoothly. For now, the main reason I have them is to extend the ability to call on Siri for HomeKit stuff, timers, etc, to rooms where I'd have to have shouted from to have been heard by my full-size HomePods; but having something play to both the living room pair of HomePods and the HomePod minis (one in kitchen, one in bathroom, living room roughly in the middle) is possible with Music (which can output to a bunch all at once) and certainly fills the space.

edit: for what it's worth, Airfoil seems quite able to send to multiple HomePods AND HomePod Minis now, on Catalina. So give or take the occasional fuss getting audio to connect, most everything BUT the Home app (which is more about control than about playing audio) seems to work with the Minis on Catalina.

my Late 2013 iMac is able to see it under Output Devices but when I choose the mini it states "To play this speaker from this Mac, change the Home app setting to allow "Anyone on the Same Network." which it is, but still no available to have it work from my iMac.
