I think this is getting a little blown out of porportion lol, guys, THIS IS A BETA, meaning not complete. We don't know how many betas there will be either so relax, i assure you that apple will have all this fixed by the time of the relase as someone stated earlier there are bigger fish to fry in iOS 7 then a little home button lag. These betas aren't even meant for us as normal users so stop complaining about every little thing and be glad that apple even allows us to use these betas in the first place:D

I hope so, and i'm quite confident that they will, but exactly who are you and what is your relationship white apple to asure us that?

I have no relationship with apple. All I have is common sense lol. Why would apple release an OS that is obviously slower and has more delays than its predecessor? Makes no sense what so ever. iOS 7 is still in beta and people(who shouldn't even be using the software I should add) are complaining about things that aren't finished. Beta 4 was never meant to be a finished product, at the very least we have 2 more betas to go all im saying is chill relax and we will see what happens in the fall. I was probably wrong for assuring something like that, but it just seems like common sense. Apple is not done complain when they release this to the general public that is all i'm saying

Tried recalibrating the home button?

I don't know if it's still working but in iOS6 you could re-calibrate the home button. Currently on iOS7 B4, and no delay or laginess for me. Using an Ip5. To re-calibrate the home button, enter a Apple supplied app, eg. Stocks. Hold the sleep/wake button until "shut off" screen comes on. After that just hold in the home button until you are taken back to springboard. Try it and report back :D

Faster to reach home screen on iPhone 4S with iOS 6 than iPhone 5 with iOS 7 beta 5

Just want to chime in. This delay was the first I noticed when trying a colleugue's iPhone 5 with iOS 7 beta 5. I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and we compared side by side and pressed the home button at the same time (going from the Phone app on both devices). The delay in iOS 7 makes it quicker to reach the home screen by quite a bit on the iPhone 4S.

I really hope Apple will fix this. Also, I think animations are fine as long as they are really quick and don't really makes things slower. But as has been mentioned in this thread it seems in this case that it's rather the delay before the animation that makes it slower to reach the home screen on iOS 7.

I had the same exact problem, installed the GM on my GSM Iphone 5 and restored it from an iOS 6.1.4 back up and it took a second for the interface to register my home button clicks.

But I fixed it! All I did was reset all settings. Not erase all content. As soon as I did that it was as snappy as iOS 6.1.4

Hope this helps

I think I found the culprit.

There's a triple click functionality you can specify for the home button in Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut.

I had my triple-click shortcut set to Invert Colors. Whenever you disable the triple-click shortcut, it significantly improves the speed of getting back to the home screen when pressing the home button.

This should be reported to Apple. My wife has a 4s still running ios 6, also with the triple click shortcut enabled for inverting colors, and it doesn't seem to experience the same delay penalty for having the triple-click feature enabled.

[edit] I forgot to specify that I'm running the GM version of ios 7.

I can confirm this, just restored from an old backup and turned off the triple click shortcut and it's as good as new.

Great find!

Super. Fast response.

General->Accesibility->Guided Access - Off

Hey, I feel like I've come at the end of a conversation and can't find the first half.

I investigated the Guided Access. Interestingly when you turn it on, the Home Button response is quicker, but the double-click for multitasking response is slower.

I dont known. I upgraded to new iphone 5s ios7 and cannot use home button (slower).

I compare 4s os6 - 2x quicker, until dont turn off Guided Access. I think its issue OS7.

I have the same issue... drives me nuts. I'm not on crack, but I don't need a 700ms delay on the home button. There are times when I'm trying to quickly navigate the phone and I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand.
