My home button wasn't responding unless I pressed it quite hard...has this happened to anyone else?

I fixed it by pressing it really hard, but still...seems a bit odd...I didn't drop it, get anything on it, etc...nothing happened. I hope it doesn't happen again...because I live in Switzerland I don't think I can take it to an Apple Store..would have to send it off to the Netherlands for like $50 :(

This has happened to me on occasion as well, though I don't know how to reproduce it. Sometimes I have to press the home button 4-5 times before it comes back. very weird.

The home button on my 3G sometimes takes 2 or 3 presses to actually do anything. It's very strange, but I'm guessing it's quite common since it's the same on my original 3G and one that I've just had it swapped out for (not for the home button issue, battery issues).

I swear it's a software thing rather than a hardware issue - it does press down just fine every time.

Interesting .... i thought my home button was going on the blink ... its the same ... i swear i press it the normal strength i do but it seemed to not take the press

It happened to me. Take it back to the Apple and have them look at it. Mine acted up and they gave me a new one - works like it should now. BTW, when mine started acting up it happened all at once and got worse in a hurry.
