Okay so my iPhone 4 is literally not even a week old and the home button is already t temperamental. Sometimes it works perfectly, other times it doesn't respond at all and I have to keep pressing it. Is this a common problem? I have an appointment at the Apple store tomorrow, do you think they will replace my phone completely or just fix it? Thanks so much !~

this happened to my 10 month old iphone 4. Took it to apple and they replaced it.

Same thing happened with mine. I had less than two weeks left on the one year warranty, so I took it in yesterday. They replaced my phone and I was in and out of the store in less than ten minutes.

Same thing for me. After 10 months or so the home button was acting all up. Went to the local Apple Store for a Genius appointment. They ran lots of diagnostics, I told them that it's a hardware problem and I don't really want to replace it as it is totally fine except for that one problem – but seeing there's nothing else they can do to make me happy –*I told them to exchange it and they did. Great success :D

I bought mine on launch day, I just had them swap it on on Friday for the Home button issue. Love the new phone except for the yellow screen.

I just had my iPhone 4 replaced on Tuesday for the exact same issue. I had been dealing with a temperamental home button for weeks, and then when I thought about the fact that my warranty was about to expire, I said enough was enough. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar. When the genius came up to me, I had to close out the app I was using and it just happened to be that click right there that it didn't work. He saw it and said good enough for me, took it around back, brought me a new (refurbished) one and I was on my way.

I'm hoping iPhone 4S/5 will go with a button-less home button, like those capacitive touch buttons found on Android.

Re: Home Button Not Working Property

My husband's did the same thing. He went in last week to the Apple Store and they replaced it for free. He said the new phone's home button feels different. They told him that it IS a common problem.

Yeah the phone is in perfect working order except for the home button! I feel silly having them replace the whole device! Oh well! I guess I should back everything up tonight!

Just had mine replaced for flaky home button. I would try double taps to get to the multi-task bar and would either end up with no click, one click, and occasionally a double click. I don't even have an Apple store in my entire state, so I sent it in. Had my replacement phone within 3 days of sending off my old phone.
