So my iphone home button has starting acting weird.. i have a 3g which is out of warranty by about 3 months and the home button does not respond well..

i sometimes have to press it 10 times for it to go back to the home screen..

strangely enough everytime i press and hold it with the power button i do get a slider for poweroff.. i am very surprised as to how that works and just pressing home button does not..

any suggestions on what i should be doing.. genius bar says pay up $199, but i dont want to do that as i would want to get spend on the next version in june anyway..

Try another genius bar. Some of them are generous when it comes to replacing out of warranty phones.

If you're really not getting anything from them after a couple attempts switch to something different til the next one comes or get the 3GS. It's well worth the money.

getting the slider is the behavior when you only hold down the power button. holding both together should reset the phone without getting any type of slider (useful if the phone hardlocked or something like that)

DAMN ! ! you are right..guess the button is totally gone .. cause it never does reset when i press and hold both

ok so another questions.. assuming ofcourse the home button is a no go.. you guys think there is any way that i can jailbreak... (i know there is an app that changes the home button to a swipe motion on the screen).. but considering the homebutton is a key element in the whole jailbreaking process (the one that i know of anyway)

is there anyway that i can jailbreak ?
