Okay, those of you who make DVDs made up of home movie snippets, photos and music (ie cheap Christmas presents 😱), which programme do you use?

I've tried iMovie HD but the photos look terrible and the transitions, etc seem a bit limited. I'm still trying to get to grips with Final Cut Express, but it'll take a while....a long while....before I do.

I'm just looking for something that will allow me combine photos, video and music with a decent choice of transitions and effects. My photos are good quality so I'd love to find a programme that would maintain that quality without me needing a degree in computer science to achieve it!

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do the photos you use in FCE look okay or do you have to fiddle about with resolution, or whatever?
I adjust the photo size before importing and it looks fine on a TV. Looks a bit rougher on a computer monitor, but that's not the intended target.
