Hey all!

I have no idea when and how this came to be, but my home folder is hidden and no matter what I try, I can't unhide it.

- "sudo chflags nohidden" has no effect.
- Resetting disk permissions with diskutil has no effect.
- Tried with disabled SIP - no effect.
- Tried to unhide from root account - no effect.
- The account is not hidden.

MacOS 10.14.6

Anybody experienced the same or anybody with some suggestions?

Thx!

Here's something to try. Won't cost anything. No promises.

Download Pathfinder 7 from here:

Open Pathfinder.

In Pathfinder's "view" menu, choose "show invisible files".

Now, use Pathfinder's window to navigate to the Users folder.

Can you see your home folder now?
(remember, Pathfinder is showing you the invisible files as well as the visible ones)

Try this next:
Click ONE time on your home folder to select it, then...

Go to Pathfinder's "file" menu, and in the "attributes" area, chose the "invisible" option. I think this may "toggle" the invisible folder back to "visibility".

Again, no promises.
But it won't cost anything to try.

Hey, thanks a lot for the suggestion!

I tried, but the "hidden" attribute is greyed out with no possibility to change it.
I tried messing with the permissions to no avail.

Try the following in a terminal window.
Code:
xxxx:~ zzz$ cd /Users
xxxx:Users zzz$ ls -l
total 0
drwxrwxrwt 14 root wheel 448 May 8 15:00 Shared
drwxr-xr-x+ 42 zzz staff 1344 May 13 14:15 zzz
The command is el ess space dash el

Can you post a picture showing what you mean by your home folder is hidden. I have an idea but I first want some more information.

Hey, thank you so much for getting back at me!

I figured it out myself, there was something messed up with the permissions, after I reset them I was able to unhide the folder.
