This discussion may be starting to take over other threads, so I thought I'd make a dedicated thread for it.

It revolves around a theory that a raised bottom edge lip on a case will get in the way when performing gestures that begin at the Home Bar.

Gestures to return Home, bring up the App Multitasking, the left/right App Switcher & Reachability are the ones I'm wondering about.

There's also the combination of a case lip + screen protector (mainly thick glass type) that doesn't reach the edge of the bottom of the screen) which may also make things worse - picture sliding your finger from a raised case lip to a gap & then to the screen protector...that's something which could frustrate a user constantly performing the same gesture in one day.

Can people list their case & let others know if the lip &/or screen protector get in the way of performing these gestures & perhaps provide a failure rate out of 10 to get an idea of how they impact them. Thanks.

I am using the Otterbox Defender, which has massive lips and still doesnt interfere with the gestures

It's not as difficult or uncomfortable as I thought it might be, but I don't have big hands. For me it's more just having to get used to swiping up. My favorite case that I have is the X-Doria Defence Lux.

Not at all, you don't really need to start from the very edge just the bottom part of the screen so you don't even touch the lip if you don't want to.

Interesting......it's good news in that it opens up my choice of case options. Thanks.

Keep the test results coming...

Caudabe Lucid Clear and Spigen Crystal Shell here - neither have presented any problems with swiping.

Just tried reachability on the Caudabe as that's what I'm using at the moment and that works absolutely fine.

Patchworks Levels ITG case here. Has full lips (fairly tall ones at that) and I've had absolutely no issues with performing gestures on the phone

ive noticed sometimes it can get in the way of using reach ability gestures or swiping between apps. I just ordered one of those silicone cases with the open bottom lip.

All of my cases except the Apple leather case have a bottom lip.

None of them interfere with the home swipe

I can imagine some of the taller lips to get annoying though

Home swipe is fine. Its the gestures that require swiping near the bottom ie reach ability and swiping between apps.

Which cases do you all have??
(I'll make a list of those which are ok in the OP).

I currently got some crappy Ringke Case. Lol

I just ordered a silicon one from hoco @ Amazon.

I need more grip on this thing.
Thanks.

To get an idea of the height of the lip you're referring to, can you provide a link to the Ringke case please?

Swiping left/right between Apps is a big feature, so if that's obscured even slightly by a lip, it'd be a big deal breaker.

See below. I bought it since it was sooooo cheap ~3-4 (cant remember). Never intended to be my main but the prince was so cheap i decided to pick it up. the lip is kinda high. Also to add, the case finish is kinda smooth. Not recommended for this phone. I think silicone is the way to go.
