Home Library folder disappeared on Lion upgrade

I upgraded to Lion and discovered that my home/library folder was gone. I used Houdini to find it, but was unable to figure out how to get it back into my finder. Can someone tell me what I need to do to return this to the normal state? Thank you.

OK, I was able to get the folder back, but when I went to documents and then returned it was gone again. How do I get it to remain in view?

OK, I used the terminal command and it is now in my finder. I wonder why they hid this file. Thank you for your help.
