Ever since I’ve updated my HomePod minis I constantly get “one sec” or “one moment” when asking to turn lights (Nanoleaf with thread) on or off.

Yet if I use my phone or Apple TV for the HK requests, they all work instantly.

Am I alone in this? One HP mini was purchased last summer, the other in December.

Just frustrating my family who like to use it.

If, like me, you’re using two as a stereo pair then it could be down to the fact that they both have the same name.

split them from being a stereo pair then give them different names in the HomeKit settings area. Mine are now HomePod L and HomePod R.

Issues fixed for me completely.

No you’re not the only one. Even on the latest 15.3 release candidate these issues still exist. HomeKit on the HomePod has been an absolute Klusterfuk since original 15 releases and has not improved any since.

I have a stereopair as well as some others dotted around the house and they all have unique names but I still have this problem. There are a few other threads with many people complaining of the same issue.

All of my HomePods, both original and the mini exhibit the same problem.

No stereo pair just one upstairs and the other downstairs nowhere near each other.

Wow, it seems like Apple dropped the ball on this program. Then again, they were slow off the mark when other platforms were taking off.

With all the issues with HomePod mini, it makes me wonder how committed Apple were to HomeKit and AppleTV.
It seems like it’s half-baked and as Steve would say, still a ‘hobby’.

"One sec" and "Just a moment" are typically network latency responses. I usually respond with "WHHHYY?!?!??" like a madman.

Start with just power cycling everything, router and HomePods. HomeKits use of Bonjour can cause a conflict that can't be detected in any other normal wifi use. This gives the impression that router is working fine "because everything else is working!" but its just because the zeroconf HomeKit is using my other devices are not.

The problem is there's no recourse and unless the mainstream tech blogs blow this up, nothing will happen.

It's also frustrating that Apple's favoured Youtubers, don't call Apple out either.

Good point. Funny you should mention that, that’s something I realised earlier on that these long-standing issues that have been with us since last year with the release of the original iOS 15 and watchOS 8 or still with us yet never ever mentioned online.

They still haven’t even fix the hand washing when you get home reminders on the watch which they introduced in watchOS 8. And apparently, that is broken for absolutely everybody. So we’ve got no hope with HomeKit which is probably more of a niche “product”.
