Curious, I keep my phone on a holster sideways on my belt. For some reason whenever I grab my phone to use the phone, it needs to rotate sideways and back up and ready to use like a delayed reaction. Curious if anyone else gets this and if there is a simple fix?

I am not sure I understand your question. For me, I played with the 8+ and X in stores and found it hard to rotate btwn portrait and landscape. I have to shake, move it around a lot. My 6s Plus is quick. Not sure if they made the accelerometer less sensitive this year.

The removal of the landscape homescreen is actually one of the greatest things of the iPhone X. On my previous Plus phones, the 6, 6s and 7, the homescreen just randomly rotated to landscape mode even when I was holding it in portrait orientation. The phone then would switch back to portrait after a few secs. A major annoyance which has still not been fixed over the years.

I have kept both my 7+ and now my 8+ with the portrait mode locked. I wish Apple would release an update of iOS where you could just lock the home screen in portrait and not the whole system.

May had just been the ones you were looking at? Just a weird issue, I guess because it is on the holster sideways 90% of the time, when I open it while in portrait orientation, the phone wakes up in landscape and then rotates itself to portrait.

I use a Seidio Surface case with holster that carries it sideways. When I remove my phone from the holster to use the orientation is portrait 99% of the time. The only time I have an issue is when waiting to use the X on the wireless charger. When laying flat on the on the charger if I wake the phone up, it can be in landscape mode, make me pick up the device to tilt for portrait.

I hope so. Trying to remember if the ones in the Apple Store were hard to rotate or just Best Buy. It was a real pain.

I did like watching movies on it though. Even being narrower the X displayed them well. Wrapping around the notch gave a wider perception.

There was a thread where people were comparing about the home screen being stuck in portrait.

There was an accessibility setting that was causing it to happen. They didn’t have display zoom set to standard.

It’s not the best solution in the world...

There is also a Portrait Lock in Control Center. But, assume that is common knowledge by now---

Home screen rotation on iPad works fine for me 99.9% of the time. Every once in a while it will act like rotation lock is on even if it isn’t. Usually requires a reboot. It hasn’t happened in a while though.

Don't know if I can reboot a floor model. But, would just to see if that is the issue. Lots of hands on those iPhones. Funny though, every time I went in to use one, nobody was there. My 6s Plus works like your iPad. If the accelerometer on the X, 8+ is more finicky, that could be an issue for me.

That's a common complaint and I never found a good fix for it.
